ASIX Adds Mesh Networking Capability in Bluetooth Smart Modules for IoT Market

ASIX Electronics Corp, a leading fabless semiconductor company for embedded networking/bridging solutions, today announced adding Bluetooth mesh networking capability into its AXB03x series Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) portfolio. The mesh technology is regarded as a key to smart home and IoT applications, especially those that require extended range or peer-to-peer communication.
The world market for Bluetooth Smart, which uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE, Bluetooth 4.0) technology unveiled in 2010, is growing rapidly and allowing billions of previously disconnected devices to join the connected world. As Bluetooth Smart sensors proliferate in the home, mesh networking will allow consumers to control any Bluetooth Smart enabled smart locks, lights, thermostats, appliances, or other devices to deliver a seamless smart home experience.
Based on CSRmesh, up and running on CSR101x devices, ASIX’s BLE mesh solution enables BLE devices to repeat those messages to surrounding devices thus extending the range of Bluetooth Smart and allows many BLE devices to be controlled directly from multiple smartphones, tablets or PCs as well, one at a time. This multi-host feature is achieved by ASIX’s software enhancement on getting BLE mesh device’s status.
Volume production of the AXB03x series is available now. The embedded Bluetooth modules are in a small castellated package and offered with turnkey solution. For more information on the AXB03x series or on any ASIX product, contact your local TRG office.
